Old Tricks

Ali peed on the charming and beautiful Susan's bed during a diaper change. That was fun--at least for me. It wasn't my bed--I'm staying in a hotel.

Ali did great this weekend. A G.I. tube was inserted directly into her stomach. She started taking a pacifier and her sucking reflex has progressed beyond expectations (Ali has been fueding with her speech therapist). I walked with her quite a bit in the hallway. And she is squawking and talking to us. Even now, Ali is lodging a protest with her grandmother about something that's making her uncomfortable.

The next few days will be busy for the beautiful and charming Susan. She'll be taught how to feed, burp, and give Ali her medicine through the G.I. tube. So, realistically, Ali could be discharged this week. We're just waiting for some custody paperwork to go through and for a couple of relatively small medical decisions to be made.

We'll be taking Ali to my sister's house up in Humboldt County this week, possibly. We'll have to see. Please continue to pray for us as we work through the logistics of this move and get things ready for the next stage of Ali's recovery.

You are all in my prayers. Since the prayer request went out I knew the story somewhat. I have worked for Social Services.
God is working miracles in all your lives. To Him be all the glory.
Be patient with the system. It can be brutal.
Blessings to all and healing to Ali. God is good.

WOOHOO!!! God is amazing....He made Ali amazing!! We were cheering at the news of her progress and continue to pray for God to be HUGE in Ali's recovery and life!
We love how you call Susan "the beautiful and charming Susan", but it begs the question ... what does she call you? The kids had some funny guesses! :)

We have never met but you are in our prayers when our Beth Moore Bible study meets on Monday nights.
I firmly believe that God will heal Ali above and beyond what the doctors could even dream. I am waiting to hear you tell us that she calls you all by name. Praise God for His love and mercy. God bless you all.

The pictures of Ali with "the beautiful and charming Susan" (I'm certainly not questioning your judgment!), with Ali smiling and her eyes really focused on Grandma, just bring tears to my eyes and a smile to my face.

In addition to prayers for continued healing for Ali and strength for all of you, I ask Lord Jesus that you will smooth the legalities of custody matters so that Ali and her family can settle soon into something like normalcy. And while you are blessing Susan and Bryon with the care and presence of this precious baby, be very real also to Ali's mommy, for whom none of this could be easy. And thank you, so very much, for all that you have done and are doing in and for Ali, herself. Jesus, grab her heart early, so that she will grow up knowing the One who brought her through. In your precious name, Amen.
