Re:Lit | Porn Again Christian | by Mark Driscoll

Here you go, boys. Pastor Mark Driscoll has this fun little read available online. He's releasing a few chapters at a time.

What say we read it together and meet back here for discussion. You can sign on as "anonymous" and say what ever you want.

What is this?

This book will be released over the course of the next several weeks and will be freely available to read online. At the conclusion of the chapters, which are listed below, the book will also be offered as a PDF. Subscribe at The Resurgence (rss) to be notified when new chapters are online.

I'm in.

When do you want to start?

I actually liked it. The thing that stood out to me was the idea that 'we're thirsty and getting bad water for ourselves instead of quenching our spiritual needs from God'.

That really struck me as true. And if his goal is to point us God-ward, then I think his goal is to see God as our thirst-quencher so we dont feel the want/need to fulfill ourselves with the the bad stuff.

I also like how short the chapters are.

I'll be posting about the introduction this afternoon.

What do you think would work: a post a couple of times a week, once a week, what?

Bryon, whatever works best for you is fine with me.

What I have skimmed thru so far, he doesn't come off as vulgar, though he is blunt, especially in regards to how sinful these acts are. But I don't want to get ahead of the conversation. As long as he sticks to the subject and doesn't try to get humorous or drawing attention to himself by being provocative, this is going to be a very helpful work for a lot of guys. There really aren't a lot of resources out there on sexual purity (as I said at PP). A lot of Christians don't like Driscoll and won't receive this very well or at all; but a lot of Christians can receive this and, if they listen, will benefit.
