Blind Babies

Yesterday we had a great meeting with the folks from Blind Babies Foundation. In case you don't know, Allie is legally blind due to her non-accidental head injury. She is working through the effects of optic atrophy and cortical visual impairment.

These folks were incredibly encouraging. They commended Allie's problem solving skills and they want us to start teaching as if she can see, not as if she can't see. They also gave us some tips about how to teach her. It isn't that she doesn't see at all, it may just take longer for her brain to process what she sees. Things may have to be held in her field of sight for longer periods of time so her brain can process what is in front of her eyes.

Here is how we know that physical therapy is done for the day.

I love that this child is screaming her head off and you thought to yourself, "I got to take a picture of this."

Sounds like a great support organization. God has certainly placed some amazing people around you during this time to walk alongside...
We'll keep on prayin'!
Allie is adorable even when she is having a meltdown! Looks like she's cutting some teeth too. What a trooper she is.
Hang in there. Thanks for being real and not putting up a false front. You encourage all of us to drop our guard.
Love to all,
Jody

she is a doll even when screaming, now that is hard to pull off! I second lyndsey on two things, no more feet pics and you have the parenting thing down when you can take a pic when someone is screaming! we are still praying for you guys!!

Is it the eyes tightly shut, the wide open mouth, or the sound that is probably issuing from that wide open mouth, that says, "Enough!"

I'm with everyone else: When a child is screaming and you can see a "Kodak moment," you've got this down! And, yes, I know you have other moments...days ...weeks. That's why you have all of us to pray for you!

Blessings and wishes for a wonderful Easter celebration, 'cause HE is risen!
